Gone are the days when students attended classes at fixed times, sat in lecture halls, and lived on campus with little else to focus on besides schoolwork. Today’s students are just as likely to be working full-time, caring for children, running small businesses, or even supporting entire households — all while trying to stay enrolled in online programs.
Online education promised freedom and flexibility, and in many ways, it has delivered. Students can watch lectures on their lunch breaks, submit assignments late at night, and attend class from anywhere in the world. But there’s a catch: with that flexibility comes the expectation of complete self-management. Weekly assignments still need to be done, discussion posts require thoughtful participation, and quizzes have to be taken on time.
